Future gilts removed from the finishing
herd at 60kg (15 weeks) Increase Ca, PO4 and lysine |
95 to 100kg 190 days Truck drive for a
minimum of 15 minutes. Place all gilts into a pre-oestrus group – 20
minutes a day boar exposure |
Record the date of the
first oestrus Note gilt which cycles
within 10 days Note gilt which cycles
between 10 to 28 days Cull all gilts which do
not cycle within 29 days post boar exposure |
If breeding target require extra gilts mate at the 2nd
oestrus. Ideally delay breeding until the 3rd oestrus |
Ideally mate on the third oestrus post-boar exposure. If breeding target has been met delay until
4th oestrus |
If sufficient gilts have been available to reach the breeding target
mate any 4th cycling selected gilt. Do not delay after the 4th
oestrus |
