Gilt future predictor
The future of your gilt can be predicted within 30 days of arrival into the breeding area.
Pay particular attention to the timing of your future breeding gilt date of cycling post arrival.
Gilts which cycle quickly are more likely to become the productive sows on your farm.
Prior to 95kg the gilt is to have no boar contact.
Move the gilt at 95kg + to the breeding area and expose the gilt to a mature boar which salivates profusely.
Note the day the gilt arrives into the breeding area and break the group of gilts into three groups.

Ideally there should be less than 10% Group 3 gilts. It is advised that these animals are slaughtered as finishing animals and not submitted to the future breeding pool.
