The impact of the season on the farm's performance

 

The heat of the summer has a predictable impact on the performance of a pig farm.

Summer infertility and abortion syndrome has been under constant investigation for years, with little real understanding of the whole causal mechanisms.  However, treatment is fairly simple - breed more animals.

However, many farms use the size of the sow herd as a fundamental performance monitoring parameter.  The effect of seasons are dramatic on these farms.
