Batch Breeding Records
The breeding record book should detail the number of females bred within a batch – to achieve the required number of farrowing sows so each batch farrowing place is filled.
It should quickly indicate if the batch breeding target has been met and detail any issues which have arisen during gestation. If required it could also include vaccination routines.
Note the farrowing rate should vary over the year – higher winter and lower in the summer.

As the days pass the breeding records are progressively completed. Note heat checking should be concentrated between days 18 and 36 post-mating. At the point of pregnancy diagnosis (around day 28 post-mating) ensure
that 110% of the batch farrowing places are likely to be filled by utilising
the retained culled sows as required. |
