Pigs per female per year  (PSY)   Paper discussing the limitations of  "pigs per sow per year"

Pigs per sow per year is a formula used on many farms to indicate success.  However, the parameter does not predict profitability or output.  In addition, the number of sows must fluctuate on a farm to account for summer breeding issues.

This spreadsheet provides a guide to assist in the factors that affect pigs per female per year.   The parameter pigs per female has been selected rather than pigs per sow to include the gilts in preparation.
