There is no concensous on what causes summer infertility.

However, what is known is that it will occur nearly every year. 

The most proactive intervention is to:

Breed more during the period of summer infertility

In the northern Hemisphere the farrowing rate will fall by 10%

In the southern Hemisphere the farrowing rate will fall by 15%

However, how can we increase our breeding pool?

Purchase more gilts

Select your own gilts

Reduce culling and only cull after obtaining the required breeding number or pregnancy diagnosis
